Temporary HR Coordinator

The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) offers the opportunity for a motivated professional to join the Administration Division in Brussels as a Temporary HR Coordinator.

EFTA is an intergovernmental organisation working to promote free trade and economic integration for its four Member States: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. The EFTA Secretariat provides support to Member States, with offices in Geneva, Brussels, and Luxembourg. The Headquarters in Geneva services the EFTA Council and policy development; Brussels supports the EEA Agreement management; Luxembourg contributes to the European Statistical System. Based in Brussels, the Administration Division plays a key role in keeping EFTA running smoothly across all three duty stations. We provide essential support in HR, Finance, ICT, Facilities, and Security, ensuring that our colleagues have the tools and environment they need to succeed.

Scope

The Administration Division in Brussels provides administrative management and services to optimise the working environment. Acting as a strategic internal partner to the organisation, the Division provides services in HR, Finance, IT, Facilities and Security to all three EFTA duty stations. 

As EFTA continues to modernise its HR function, we are looking for someone who is not only committed to high-quality HR support, but also comfortable working with digital tools, automation, and data-driven processes. You will play an important role in helping us streamline workflows, enhance employee experience, and support the adoption of modern HR technologies across the organisation.   

As a Temporary HR Coordinator, you would for example:

  • Demonstrate strong digital literacy and curiosity in using modern digital tools, including automation features, and emerging AI technologies to improve efficiency, support data-driven decisions, and enhance the employee experience.
  • Contribute to improving processes and leveraging technology, including supporting the transition to new HR systems, workflow optimisation, and clearer reporting through better use of data.
  • Take an active role in employer branding and talent attraction by creating and sharing HR-related content across social media and other channels, strengthening EFTA’s visibility as employer of choice.
  • Play a key part in delivering our Junior Professional Programme, including recruitment, onboarding, career fair coordination, and ongoing participant support.
  • Support the HR team with the full recruitment cycle, including publishing vacancies, screening applicants, organising logistics, preparing job offers, and coordinating onboarding activities.
  • Support our Learning & Development initiatives by helping to identify, plan, and deliver training that meets both organisational goals and staff growth needs.
  • Manage administrative tasks and assist with ad hoc HR and administrative tasks, providing flexible support across the Division to ensure efficient operations and service delivery.

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. 

Experience

  • Minimum 1 years proven and successful experience in HR, preferably in an international or multicultural environment. 

Skills

  • Curiosity and confidence in using modern digital tools and AI applications.
  • A learner who is eager to stay up-to-date and develop. 
  • Service-minded, solution-oriented, flexible and consistent. 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team. 
  • Tech savvy and high proficiency in digital HR systems and Microsoft Office solutions. 

Languages

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken Dutch and/or French considered a plus.

Grade: B3

Annual starting salary experience: EUR 51,321.84

EFTA is an international organisation, and the salaries and related payments are normally exempt from income taxation by the EFTA Member States and in the host states of the EFTA duty stations. Depending on the candidate’s family status, benefits and allowances may apply.
